Border & Ethnic Affairs Minister meets ethnic literature, culture committees and staff

Union Minister for Border Affairs and for Ethnic Affairs Lt-Gen Yar Pyae, accompanied by Taninthayi Region Chief Minister U Myat Ko, Deputy Minister for Ethnic Affairs U Zaw Aye Maung, and relevant officials, met the members of the ethnic literature and culture committees in Taninthayi Region yesterday.

Regional Ethnic Affairs Minister U Saw Martin Luthar reported on the challenges in health, education and transport sectors, work procedures for CSC and household lists for the internally displaced people as per the Pan Khinn project, food assistance, holding of ethnic tradition festivals and socioeconomic development programmes of the ethnic people.

The regional ethnic literature and cultural committees tabled the motions regarding the need for regional development and assistance for TA/LT.

After hearing the reports, the Union minister stressed the need to build a developing country with a genuine Union spirit and unity, hold traditional festivals grandly, promote education, literature and cultures, and develop a public administrative system to operate administration and judiciary properly.

The Union minister presented cash prizes to Dawei, Mon and Kayin literature and culture committees, the Ministry of Ethnic Affairs and the staff of the Taninthayi Region Directorate Office.

The ethnic dance troupe performed Dawei traditional dance, and the Union minister and party awarded the performers.
