Regions, states to produce over 100,000 fingerlings

According to the Department of Fisheries, more than 100,000 fingerlings will be produced in regions and states.

From the beginning of this financial year until the end of June, 113,950,000 fingerlings were released into rivers and natural waters, and a total of 78,729,000 fish were sold. Approximately 101,600,000 fish hatchlings will be produced, with 40 per cent intended for various fish releasing and 60 per cent for sale.

The Department of Fisheries aims to meet targets for fish release and sales. Additionally, the department will release fish species such as Mrigal carp, rohu, and swamp barb into waters nationwide. These efforts are part of the department’s strategy to enhance fish food security and support the development of rural fish farming.
